Debt.com will give you $1,000 simply for applying for other scholarships
Debt.com’s mission is to encourage Americans to fight their way to financial independence – from college freshmen to senior citizens and everyone in between. Sadly, many college students don’t apply for all the scholarships available to them. Why?
“One of the most common and distressing excuses I hear is, ‘Why bother? I don’t have a 4.0,’” a college financial aid director told Debt.com recently.
Another surmises that today’s college students fear rejection so much, they simply don’t ask for free money. “You’ll be rejected many times in life, but we’re often rewarded for being persistent and showing courage,” she says. “Apply and apply again!” Winners are picked once per year.

Winner announced May 1, 2026 – and the next round opens same day.
We want to reward your persistence and courage.
Here’s how…
Step 1
Apply
Apply for as many scholarships as you can.
You can find hundreds through websites like Career One Stop, Scholarships.com, and Studentscholarships.org.
Step 2
Confirm
Send us all the confirmation emails you received.
You DON’T have to win these scholarships. You need to prove you applied. Please screenshot your applications and paste them into one email or make a PDF. Submissions should be no more than two documents: One proving your applications, the other with a brief letter about yourself.
Step 3
Write
Write a short letter telling us about yourself.
Why do you need our $1,000 cash? What are your plans in life? How did you feel applying for all those other scholarships? Did you learn anything from that? Did you win any? We have no more specific rules because we want you to decide what to say. You don’t need a sob story, just a human one.
One entry will be selected each cycle based on the number of those applications and the quality of the essay. Debt.com is purposefully vague with these rules to give students who seek the most scholarships the best chance of winning, but if you have questions, ask away.

Hi, I’m Joe Pye, Managing Editor of Debt.com. I’m here with Lindsey Walters, the latest recipient of Debt.com Scholarship for Aggressive Scholarship Applicants.
Lindsey, could you please tell us a little bit more about yourself? How’d you hear about our scholarship? Where are you going to school? And what are you studying?
I am going to Nova Southeastern University, I’m a 1L at the Shepard Broad College of Law.
Law school is expensive, and so I’m constantly getting emails in my inbox from scholarship websites that I’ve signed up through. I’m very grateful to have gotten this opportunity to alleviate a little bit of my debt.
Thank you so much for telling us a little bit of background about you. If you could just tell us like overall ballpark like how many scholarships would you say you’ve applied to before finding ours? I’ve applied probably over 200 plus scholarships over six years now or so.
This is the first one I’ve ever gotten. So I’m really surprised and thankful.
Whenever we hear a story of someone who like really went out of their way and applied for 200 plus scholarships – those are the kind of students that we want to award this scholarship to.
Could you tell us a little bit more about what you’re studying law-wise? And why you chose that law to to to study at at Nova?
Right now, we live in a world that is surrounded by digital invasion of privacy. I think it’s very important to hold companies accountable to the invasion of privacy. That they’re doing and also educate all of the consumers about when you have auto update on your phone. What are these apps? What information are they collecting? What is your ring camera your blink camera in your house? What information are they collecting on you?
Most consumers don’t know. Do you have any kind of advice to other folks out there right now who are considering going back to school um how they can alleviate a student debt burden – kind of like how you’re applying for the scholarship here?
Never stop looking for opportunities to help you get an education because we all deserve an education. It’s really burdensome that it costs so much but that shouldn’t deter you from trying to do what’s best for you in your future.
Thank you so much for applying for our scholarship and working so hard to apply for so many scholarships. I am so proud and happy to award you the Debt.com scholarship for aggressive scholarship applicants.
I wish you luck with the rest of your studies. Thank you for coming thank you so much appreciate you.
I want to thank Debt.com so much for choosing me for this scholarship. It means a lot and I’m truly grateful. Thank you Debt.com
